IBM Software Hub online backup and restore

Cluster administrators or users with a similar role can create online backups of a IBM® Software Hub instance and restore a backup to the same cluster or to a different cluster.

Options What to do
You want to create backups. Create backups with one of the following products:
  1. The IBM Software Hub OADP backup and restore utility
  2. IBM Fusion
  3. NetApp Trident protect
You want to restore a backup to the same cluster. Restore backups to the same cluster with one of the following products:
  1. The IBM Software Hub OADP backup and restore utility
  2. IBM Fusion
  3. NetApp Trident protect
You want to restore a backup to a different cluster. Restore an online backup with one of the following products:
  1. IBM Fusion
  2. NetApp Trident protect
  3. Portworx

Backing up Db2, Db2 Warehouse, and dependent services

To ensure data consistency when online backups are taken, all Db2 databases are write-suspended when volume snapshots are created. Write suspending Db2 databases impacts the following dependent services:

  • Db2 Big SQL
  • Data Virtualization
  • IBM Knowledge Catalog
Note: Online backups of Db2 and Db2 Warehouse instances with circular logging enabled is supported.
