IBM Software Hub Version 5.2.1

A new version of Data Product Hub was released in August 2025 with IBM Software Hub 5.2.1.

Operand version: 5.2.1

This release includes the following changes:

New features
This release of Data Product Hub includes the following features:
Create text queries to SQL queries in projects

You can now add SQL assets to your projects by converting your text query to SQL.

Use data lineage to track data and visualize the flow of data

Data providers can now use data lineage to track and visualize the complete flow of data from its origin, through each transformation, to its final use. Data lineage provides end-to-end transparency so that providers can track how data assets evolve and perform faster root cause analysis for data quality issues.

Semantic search enhancements for your data product search

Global search for data products is now integrated with the semantic search service. Semantic search enhances search accuracy by understanding the context and intent behind search terms, rather than just matching keywords. You can search text in the query to provide relevant search results. For example, if you search "automobile", the data products search will automatically be expanded to return similar terms, such as the word "car".

IBM Software Hub Version 5.2.0

A new version of Data Product Hub was released in June 2025 with IBM Software Hub 5.2.0.

Operand version: 5.2.0

This release includes the following changes:

New features
This release of Data Product Hub includes the following features:
New delivery method: Deliver as a table in watsonx.data™

Data products using supported data sources can now be delivered to your instance of watsonx.data tables by using the data ingest delivery method. This method allows users with the appropriate permissions to create new tables or append to existing ones.

New delivery method: Access in watsonx.data

You can now subscribe to a data product created from the watsonx.data instance by using the direct access delivery method. This method lets consumers directly access watsonx.data resources through Data Product Hub. After delivery, consumers will see details on how to access the watsonx.data instance and the specific resources they have access to.

Manage your business domains by assigning domain ownership

Administrators can now assign data product producers as business domain owners. The domain owner privilege allows users to manage their assigned domains and receive alerts for incoming new data product requests specific to those domains.

Enhanced insight dashboard with advanced metrics

You can now use the insights dashboard to get deeper visibility into your data community. In addition to tracking tasks and data products metrics, users can now view top-performing data products, monitor subscription delivery statuses, and analyze subscription trends through intuitive line graphs. These enhancements empower the community with richer insights and better-informed decision-making.

Updates
The following updates were introduced in this release:
Selecting properties to expand your data product search

You can now expand your search for data products by selecting and filtering with the following properties: business terms and column names.

Create a new version of a data product from a retired data product

You can now publish a data product by creating a draft version of a retired data product if there is no existing version of the data product available.

View version history of a data product

You can now view the version history of a data product, which includes the summary of changes in each version.

Custom metadata enhancements

The custom metadata feature has the following key enhancements:

  • A new search functionality allows all users to easily find custom properties by name in the additional information tab.
  • A custom group edit feature has been added with built-in search and the ability to manage user-type properties more efficiently.
  • You now have the option to remove values in both group and individual edit modals, making it easier to manage property values.
