Using the Insert Request Editor
Use the Insert Request Editor to define or edit an insert request to be used for Optimâ„¢ processing.

- Description
- Optional text to identify the insert request (up to 40 characters).
- Server Name
If the Optim server is licensed and installed, you can direct resource-intensive processing (for example, when the source file contains a large number of tables or rows) to a machine hosting the server.
Click the down arrow to select a machine hosting the server, or select Local to process the request on the local workstation.
- Tabs
- The Insert Request Editor tabs group parameters
and options that you may need to define and maintain insert requests.
Each tab in the editor serves a unique purpose.
- General
- Specifications for the process, including the names of the source and control files, and table map. Each time you open the editor, the General tab is shown first.
- Age Function
- Default parameters for optional aging of data in columns for which an age function is indicated in a column map.
- Global Aging
- Default parameters for optional aging of data in columns that have a native date data type.
- Currency
- Default currency table and currency conversion parameters for columns with a native currency data type.
- Report Options
- Parameters for displaying errors and aging specifications on the process report.
- Notify
- Options for automatic email notification of the success or failure of the process.
Menu Commands
In addition to the standard File, Edit, and Tools menu commands, you can select the following commands from other menus in the Insert Request Editor:
- Tools Menu
- Convert to Local
- Embed the insert request in the restore request. (Available only when editing a named request as an adjunct to editing a restore request.)
- Edit Table Map
- Open the Table Map Editor, and create, edit, or browse a table map to be used with the active insert request.
- Edit Table Specifications
- Open the Insert Request Table Specifications dialog and select tables to include in mixed (selective) processing. For more information, refer to Insert Request Table Specification Dialog.
- Edit Directory Map
- Open the Directory Map dialog and map file attachments to destination directories. For more information, refer to Directory Map Dialog.
- Options Menu
- Show Aging Show Currency
- Select a command to hide or display the corresponding tabs.
