Consuming virtual topics

In the Event Endpoint Management catalog, you can browse and discover information about the virtual topics available in your organization. After you discover a virtual topic that is suitable for use with your application, you can subscribe to it in a self-service manner in the catalog.

About this task

To consume a virtual topic, complete the following steps:

1. In the navigation pane, click Catalog.
2. Click the topic that you want to subscribe to.
3. In the Virtual topics section, click the virtual topic that you want to use.
4. Click Subscribe, or if approval is required, click Request subscription.

   If approval is required, then enter a justification for the subscription request.

5. Click Create application to create an application to subscribe to the virtual topic.
6. Provide a name and contact email address for your application.
7. Click Next. The Collaborators pane is displayed.
8. Click Next. The Client authentication set pane is displayed.
9. Select SASL Credentials and click Create.

   Copy the generated username and password values, or click Download credentials to download your generated credentials as a JSON file. The credentials that are generated for you are shown one time. They cannot be retrieved later. Ensure that you save the access credentials and store them in a secure location.

   Your application requires these credentials to access the source topic through the Event Gateway.
