Defining your FTP, SFTP, or PDUU-HTTPS profile settings

A profile specifies the FTP, SFTP, or PDUU-HTTPS settings for z/OSMF to use when transferring files between systems. Specifically, a profile contains the information required to navigate the firewall or proxy that is between an FTP, SFTP, or PDUU server and client.

Table 1 describes the meaning of an FTP or SFTP client and server for each z/OSMF task that uses profiles, and describes the profiles that need to be created for each task. Note that you might be able to share profiles between tasks if the FTP or SFTP client is the same for each task.

Incident Log The FTP or SFTP client is the source of the send. It is the z/OS® system where the diagnostic data files reside.

z/OSMF assumes the FTP or SFTP client is running on the same z/OS system as the z/OSMF instance to which your Web browser is connected.

 The FTP or SFTP server is the target of the send. It is the internal or external system to where the diagnostic data files will be uploaded. You must create a profile for each firewall or proxy server that z/OSMF is required to navigate when transferring files.
Software Management The FTP or SFTP client is the target of the deployment. It is the z/OS system that has access to the DASD volumes where the new copy of the software will reside. The FTP or SFTP server is the source of the deployment. It is the z/OS system that has access to the DASD volumes where the original software resides. You must create a profile for each FTP server and FTP client combination and for each SFTP server and SFTP client combination.

The profiles defined to z/OSMF are displayed on the FTP Profiles page. To display this page, expand the z/OSMF Settings category and select FTP Servers. Then, select FTP or PDUU Profiles from the Actions menu on the FTP Servers page.

By default, z/OSMF provides the profiles named No Firewall or Proxy and No SSH Proxy Command. These profiles cannot be modified, copied, or removed. Use the No Firewall or Proxy profile when no additional FTP settings are required to transfer files to an FTP server. Use the No SSH Proxy Command profile when no additional SFTP settings are required to transfer files to an SFTP server.

Columns in the FTP Profiles table

Column Description
Name Name of the profile. If you click the name link, the View FTP or PDUU Profile page is displayed.

The name of the default FTP and SFTP profile is followed by (default). For more details about the default profiles, see help topic Modify, View, Copy, and Add FTP Profile pages.
Type Type of server the profile supports. The type can be FTP, SFTP, or PDUU-HTTPS.
Activity State of the profile. If the profile is being modified, the lock icon and the Being modified link are displayed. Otherwise, this column is blank.

To view the user ID of the user who is modifying the profile and the date and time the user started modifying it, click the icon or link. To obtain the lock for the profile, complete the steps provided in help topic Locking objects in z/OSMF.
Firewall Host Host name or IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) of the firewall or proxy server.
Firewall User ID User ID required to authenticate with the firewall or proxy server.
Firewall Port Port number of the firewall or proxy server.
Firewall Commands Commands required to transfer data across the firewall or proxy server.
FTP.DATA File Name Name of the installation-defined data set or UNIX file that contains the information needed to override the default FTP client and server parameters.
TCPIP.DATA File Name Name of the installation-defined data set or UNIX file that contains the information needed to override the default system TCP/IP configuration.
SSH Proxy Command Command to use to connect to the SFTP server.
Last Modified Date and time the profile was last modified. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Modified By User ID of the user who last modified the profile. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Created Date and time the profile was created. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Created By User ID of the user who created the profile. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Locked Date and time the profile was locked. This column is blank if the profile is not currently locked. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.
Locked By User ID of the user who locked the profile. This column is blank if the profile is not currently locked. This column is hidden by default. To display it, use the Configure Columns action.

Actions for profiles

The actions are described in the following tables:

  • Targeted actions. Actions that apply to the selected profiles. To use a targeted action, select one or more FTP or PDUU profiles.
  • General actions. Actions that apply to profiles. No selection is required.
  • Table actions. Actions that apply to the entire table. No selection is required.

Action Description
Modify Modify the selected profile. This action is listed in the Actions menu and the context menu only if you are authorized to modify profiles. To enable this action, select only one profile.
View View the selected profile. To enable this action, select only one profile.
Copy Create a copy of the selected profile. This action is listed in the Actions menu and the context menu only if you are authorized to copy profiles. To enable this action, select only one profile.
Remove Remove the selected profiles. This action is listed in the Actions menu and the context menu only if you are authorized to remove profiles. To enable this action, select one or more profiles.

Add Add a new profile. This action is listed in the Actions menu only if you are authorized to define new profiles.

Select All Select all of the rows in the table.
Deselect All Deselect all of the selected rows in the table.
Configure Columns Select the columns to display in the table, specify the order of those columns, and designate which columns should be fixed in position when the table is scrolled horizontally.
Hide Filter Row Remove the filter row from view. This action is listed only when the filter row is displayed in the table.
Show Filter Row Display the filter row. This action is listed only when the filter row is not displayed in the table.
Clear Sorts Clear the sort from all of the columns in the table. This action is disabled if no sorting is specified in the table.
