z/OSMF displays
product information in several views and reports in the Software Management task. z/OSMF retrieves this
information from two sources – SMP/E global and target zones
and product
information files. This section introduces product information files,
and it explains how to retrieve product information from both sources.
Creating product information files for the Software Management task product information file is a flat file, such as a text file, that contains information about one or more products. This information includes, for example, the product announce date, general availability date, and end of service date.
