Overriding or bypassing deployment jobs

To override the status of a deployment job or to bypass a job, use the Override Complete action provided in the Jobs table in the View and submit deployment jobs step of the deployment checklist.

About this task

When you invoke the Override Complete action for one or more jobs, z/OSMF changes the status of the selected jobs to Complete (Override) without submitting the jobs. Thus, you may be bypassing one or more deployment actions. Use this action only if you know that the jobs are not needed in your environment or that the jobs were run outside of z/OSMF. Otherwise, do not override the jobs.

Procedure

To mark the jobs complete, perform the following steps:

  1. Complete one of the following steps to display the list of deployments:
    1. Click Deployments on the Software Management page.
    2. Select Deployments from the Switch To menu provided on the Software Instances page and the Products page.
    3. In the Software Instances view, invoke the Open Deployments action.
    4. In the Portable Software Instances view, invoke the Open Deployments action.
  2. In the Deployments table, complete one of the following steps to display the list of deployment jobs:
    1. Select the deployment that contains the job to be bypassed. Then, select Modify or Copy from the Actions menu or context menu. In the deployment checklist, complete the steps required to activate the View and submit deployment jobs step. Then, navigate to that step.
    2. From the Actions menu, select New. In the deployment checklist, complete the steps required to activate the View and submit deployment jobs step. Then, navigate to that step.
  3. In the Jobs table, select the job to be bypassed. You can select multiple jobs where the status is not already Complete or Complete (Override).
  4. From the Actions menu or context menu, select Override Complete. A confirmation message is displayed.
  5. Click OK to change the status of the selected jobs to Complete (Override). You cannot undo this action.

Results

If the request completes without errors, z/OSMF updates the Override Completed By and Last Override Completed columns in the Jobs table and changes the status of the job to Complete (Override).
