The SINGLE, DOUBLE, or TRIPLE operand is not allowed when an input data set contains carriage control characters. SINGLE, DOUBLE, or TRIPLE spacing is not consistent with the line spacing already provided by the carriage control characters within the data set. Reissue the PRINTDS command without specifying SINGLE, DOUBLE, or TRIPLE.

Another alternative is to first use PRINTDS to print the input data set to a pre-allocated TODATASET, where the TODATASET has been pre- allocated without ANSI or MACHINE carriage control. For how to print the input data set this way, see z/OS TSO/E Command Reference.
