  1. Select a 3270 Emulation session.
  2. Logon onto user P696234K.
  3. Establish the correct minidisk order.

    The VMFSETUP command accesses all the required disks or SFS directories to establish the needed CMS file modes.

    Issue the following command:
    VMFSETUP P696234K {HLASM|HLASMSFS}

    P696234K is the PPF that is shipped with Program Understanding Tool. If you have your own PPF override, substitute your PPF name for P696234K.

    Use HLASM if the Program Understanding Tool is installed on a minidisk. Use HLASMSFS if Program Understanding Tool is installed in SFS.

  4. The download process using the RECEIVE command is prone to interruption by messages being sent to the z/VM userid being used to download the files. To minimize this impact, issue the following commands:
    QUERY SET
    to display the status of many SET command functions. Please note the values for MSG, IMSG, and SMSG.
    SET MSG OFF
    indicates whether messages sent from other users by means of the CP MESSAGE command are to be displayed. ON specifies that messages are displayed. OFF specifies that messages are not displayed.
    SET IMSG OFF
    indicates whether informational messages associated with certain CP commands are to be displayed. ON specifies that informational responses are displayed. OFF specifies that the responses are not displayed.
    SET SMSG OFF
    specifies whether a virtual machine is receiving special messages. OFF indicates the virtual machine cannot receive special messages. ON indicates the virtual machine can receive special messages.
  5. Ensure the session is left with a blank CMS screen
