Creating routes
You can create a route to list all assets of the same type, all assets in a certain location, or both. For example, an inspection route might list all fire extinguishers in a plant, or all safety equipment in a building.
Procedure
- In the Routes application, click New Route.
- If the Route field is empty, specify a value. Important: When you create a route, it is created with a status of draft by default. Users with administrative privileges can go to Common Actions > Change Status and in the Change Status dialog, update the status of the route to ACTIVE or INACTIVE.
Remember that you cannot update the route status to INACTIVE if it is used in any active Preventive Maintenance (PM) record.
Attention: With the addition of the Status field in Maximo® Manage 9.0, all existing routes will have ACTIVE status. - Select a route option to specify the type of work orders to be generated when the route
is applied to a work order:
Option Description Child Work Orders A child work order is generated for each route stop. Entries in the Work Order's Multi Asset, Location, and CI Table A single work order is generated for all the assets and locations for all the route stops. Work Order Tasks A task work order is generated for each route stop. Note: Only an active route can be applied to a preventive maintenance (PM) record or work order. - If you select the Child Work Orders option or the Work Order Tasks option, you can select the Route Stops Inherit Status Changes check box to simultaneously update the status of all child work orders or task work orders. Otherwise, clear that check box.
- Create one or more route stops:
- Click New Row.
- In the Location field or the Asset field,
specify a value. If you select the Child Work Orders option or the Work Order Tasks option, the assets and locations on all route stops must belong to the site associated with the route. To select locations or assets from a list, perform one of the following actions:
To select: Click: Assets Select Assets Locations Select Locations Assets from a list of user-defined relationships when creating routes that involve linear assets Path Selector
- If you selected the Child Work Orders option, you can specify a value in the Job Plan field.
- If the IBM® Maximo Linear Asset Manager license is installed and you specified a linear asset in the Asset field, additional fields appear. Complete the fields in the Details section and the Linear Segment Details section as needed.
- Click Save Route.
