Installing the embedded client on Ubuntu

Install the IBM® Sametime® embedded clients on a Notes® client running on Ubuntu.

Before you begin

You must install Notes 9.0 or later to use the embedded client.

About this task

To install the Sametime Embedded Client on Ubuntu, perform the following steps:

Procedure

  1. On the computer where you will install the embedded client, log on as root.
  2. Find the client package you need to download. Locate a package containing the file SametimeEmbeddedClient.zip.
  3. Download the package to the client workstation.
  4. Extract the following two files to a temporary location on the client workstation:
    • sametime-connect-embedded-9.0-timestamp.i386.deb
    • sametime-connect-embedded-core-9.0-timestamp.i386.deb
  5. Stop the Notes client.
  6. Double-click the following file to install the client program: 
    sametime-connect-embedded-9.0.timestamp.i386.deb
