Setup an LDAP user home directory
After LDAP user authentication is enabled in Platform Cluster Manager Community Edition, setup and configure the LDAP user home directory that is located on an NFS server.
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) allows a system administrator to centrally define and manage Linux users. Using LDAP, a system administrator can define a user to one or more Linux systems. User information, such as the user password and location of the user's home directory, is stored on an NFS server. Linux users usually have their user home directory (typically the /home/username directory) created when the user ID is defined.
An internal NFS server, where the NFS server used for LDAP authentication is found in the system on the Platform Cluster Manager Community Edition management node. To configure the user home directory, refer to Setup an LDAP user home directory on an internal NFS server.
- A remote NFS server, where the NFS server used for LDAP authentication is found outside of the system, such as a remote NFS server that is integrated with an LDAP server. To configure a user home directory on a remote NFS server, refer to Setup an LDAP user home directory on a remote NFS server.
