ZOSSOS31UNALLOC

6.2 and later Applies to 6.2 and later.

The ZOSSOS31UNALLOC system initialization parameter specifies short-on-storage (SOS) thresholds in KB for the total amount of unallocated z/OS® extended user region storage and for the largest contiguous storage area available in it.

CICS® considers the z/OS extended user region storage in the 31-bit addressing range to be SOS if the total amount of unallocated storage or the size of the largest contiguous storage area available in it is less than or equal to its threshold value.

ZOSSOS31UNALLOC=({128|number-of-kilobytes1[,64|number-of-kilobytes2]})
The default is ZOSSOS31UNALLOC=(128,64), which means that the extended user region storage is SOS if either of the following situations occurs:
  • The total amount of unallocated extended user region storage is less than or equal to 128 KB.
  • The largest contiguous storage area available in unallocated extended user region storage is less than or equal to 64 KB.

The order in which you code the values is significant. If you want to omit a value, you must code a comma in the place of that value. For example, ZOSSOS31UNALLOC=(,32) specifies the default threshold for the total amount of unallocated extended user region storage and a threshold of 32 KB for the largest contiguous storage area available in it.

number-of-kilobytes1
The SOS threshold for the total amount of unallocated extended user region storage.
Specify a value in KB in the range 1 through 16384. The default is 128.
number-of-kilobytes2
The SOS threshold for the largest contiguous storage area available in unallocated extended user region storage.
Specify a value in KB in the range 1 through 16384, and the value must not be greater than number-of-kilobytes1.
The default is 64; however, if number-of-kilobytes1 is less than 64, the default is number-of-kilobytes1. For example, ZOSSOS31UNALLOC=(160,) is equivalent to ZOSSOS31UNALLOC=(160,64), but ZOSSOS31UNALLOC=(32,) is equivalent to ZOSSOS31UNALLOC=(32,32).
