Log management

This log management section describes the logging architecture used by Sterling™ Order Management System (OMS) and defines the types of logs generated by the system, their intended purpose, and the governance principles that apply to their creation, retention, and access.

The logging model is designed to:
  • Support regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Enable operational monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Balance observability needs with system performance, stability, and cost.

Logging architecture overview

Sterling Order Management System implements a logging architecture to separate logs by purpose and criticality. This approach ensures clarity of intent, appropriate retention, and controlled access for different log types.

See the following logging types with their description.
Table 1. Logging types
Log type Description
Application logs Logs supporting system monitoring, error analysis, and support operations.
Audit logs Compliance-focused logs capturing security- and governance-relevant events.
Platform logs
