Availability refresh based on safety stock rule modification
This section provides an overview of the safety stock re-evaluation process and its applicability when safety stock rule conditions or evaluation criteria are modified.
In simplest form, the availability is calculated as Supply – Demand – Safety stock.
For example, if supply is 10, and safety stock is 3, the calculated availability is 10 - 7 = 3. Now, if the safety stock gets updated to 5, the availability must reflect as 5. In this case, the API returns updated availability as 5, and now the event consumers also get this updated availability picture via the change event.
Following events get affected by this availability refresh node rules:
- productAvailability.v2 change event
- availableSupplyChange.v2 event
- dgAvailabilityChange.v2 event
When a safety stock rule is updated, the system automatically re-evaluates availability and
generates the corresponding ship node and distribution group availability change events to reflect
the recalculated inventory availability.
Note: Due to performance considerations, availability
refresh for safety stock rules without item ID and/or location details are not supported.
Event publishing mechanism
The availability events does not get published instantly and follow a scheduler-based mechanism:
- With item id: Up to ~15 minutes.
- Without item id: ~1 hour plus 15 minutes.
safetyRule.availRefresh.enabled is set to true,
availability is automatically refreshed whenever a safety stock rule is updated.
