Columnar table replication on standalone Db2

To use the non-containerized version of replication with column-organized tables on standalone Db2 databases, you can follow a step-by-step Q Replication tutorial in the white paper Replicating Transactions on Db2 Columnar Tables with Db2 V11.5.

IBM® Data Replication for Availability uses the Q Replication technology. To perform columnar table replication and other advanced configuration and administration tasks, you might need to reference the Q Replication documentation in IBM Knowledge Center.

Some of the terminology that is used in IBM Data Replication for Availability differs from that of Q Replication. For example, a replication set in IBM Data Replication for Availability, which is a set of tables that are replicated with transactional consistency, corresponds to a consistency group in Q Replication, and a consistency group comprises all of the tables that are replicated by using the same replication queue map. When you add a table to a replication set, you are creating a Q subscription, which maps a source table to a target table.

Table 1 links to documentation for some of the major tasks that are required to configure Q Replication.

Note: Performing tasks outside of the replication console poses risks for your replication configuration. Some tasks that are supported in Q Replication are not supported in IBM Data Replication for Availability. Use caution when undertaking any manual procedures and consider working with IBM Software Support.
