Platform users

By default, IAS comes with two user groups to manage all the platform users:
  • ibmapadmin
  • ibmapusers
There is one predefined user apuser (default password: puffin). You can ssh to the appliance nodes with these credentials and run various administrative commands. As the appliance administrator, apuser can create additional user ids with appliance administration privileges, or create additional user ids that can be used for regular appliance access.

Platform users can come from the IAS internal directory server, or from the external directory such as Windows Active Directory or other OpenLDAP servers. No additional configuration is required when you use internal LDAP, and for configuring external LDAP you can use the ap_external_ldap.pl script. Creation, modification, deletion and password management for platform users is done only via command line from the NodeOS of the appliance. For more information on how to manage platform users, see:
