Grow on Demand

If the Integrated Analytics System appliance is too large for your business needs, you can consider the flexible, cost-effective Grow on Demand program. Grow on Demand allows you to use the appliance with reduced capacity, and then move its capacity up in 10% increments when your needs grow.

The Grow on Demand feature allows you to flexibly scale out your IAS environment on a 1/3 rack appliance (models with three nodes but without tiered storage). The amount of CPU cores, memory and storage space can be limited by up to 50%. You can then choose to raise the system resources in 10% increments, so that you can get 60%, 70%, 80%, or 90% of full capacity. The limits apply to the Db2 Warehouse container on the appliance. Any changes in the Grow on Demand settings require bringing the system offline and redeploying the containers with changed options. IBM Support is required to make any changes to the capacity. The apgodmgr script is available for configuring Grow on Demand on the system.

The limits imposed on the system are monitored by Platform Manager, and any deviations from the set limits are reported.

You use ap info to verify if Grow on Demand is enabled on your appliance. The Grow on Demand information section is displayed if the feature is enabled:
