Adding a new platform user

The appliance administrator can add new platform users with the ap_ldap_user_add.pl utility.

1. Log in to the appliance as apuser or any equivalent that is a member of ibmapadmin OS group.
2. To add a new user, run the following command:

   ap_ldap_user_add.pl  -g <primary group> <user name>
   

   As the <primary group>, specify one of the groups that the user belongs to:

   • ibmapadmin : Appliance Administrator Group
   • ibmapusers : Appliance User Group

   New users must always belong to one of these groups.
3. When prompted, specify a password for the user. The user can then change their password at first login, as described in Changing your user password.
