IDAX.DNBINOM - Density of the negative binomial distribution

The DNBINOM function returns the value of the "probability density" (probability mass function) of the NBINOM distribution at point x. It returns the probability that you get a specific number of failures before you get a specific number of successes in a series of Bernoulli trials.

Syntax

IDAX.DNBINOM(INT8 x, INT8 s, DOUBLE p)

Parameter descriptions

x
Mandatory.
The value that is to be computed.
Data type: INT8
s
Mandatory.
The number of successes that are required to stop the series of Bernoulli trials.
Min: 1
Data type: INT8
p
Mandatory.
The probability of success.
Min: 0.00000000001
Max: 1-0.00000000001
Data type: DOUBLE
DNBINOM(x,s,p) = PNBINOM(x,s,p) - PNBINOM(x-1,s,p) for all positive x and positive s values, and for p values in the range of 0 - 1. If s is 0 or less, DNBINOM(x,s,p) is null for all x and p values. If p is not in the range of 0 - 1, DNBINOM(x,s,p) is null for all x and s values.

Returned information

DOUBLE the probability density at point x.
