Using and managing tags

Tags are custom values that can be used to assign registered servers for custom groupings. You can view tags if you have the View Settings permission. To create, update, or delete tags, you must have the Manage Settings permission.

Before you begin

Only admin users can create, update, or delete tags. Users who have the View security permission can view tags and use tags to filter. You can modify security permission to decide which users to have what privileges.

Creating tags

You must be an admin user to create tags.

  1. Go to Settings > Tags.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Fill in the name of the tag in the text box.
  4. Click the "floppy disk" icon to save the tag. Now it can be assigned to assets in the Server management page

Deleting tags

You must be an admin user to delete tags. You can delete tags on Settings > Tags. Deleting a tag removes it from all assets it was assigned to.

  1. Go to Settings > Tags.
  2. Find a tag in the list you want to delete and click the "trashcan" icon next to it.
  3. Click Delete in the confirmation dialogue.
  4. The tag is now removed from the table in the Tags tab and unassigned from all assets.

Assigning tags

  1. Go to the Server management page.
  2. Select the server you want to assign tags, click on the check box in the first column of the table.
  3. Click Edit Tags.
  4. Search and select the required tags to add.
  5. Click Save to save the tags and assign the tag to all servers.

Unassigning tags

Note: Only tags that are common to all the selected servers are visible to be unassigned.
  1. Go to the Server management page.
  2. Select the server you want to unassign tags, click on the check box in the first column of the table.
  3. Click Edit Tags.
  4. Click X to remove the tag.
  5. Click Save.
