Adding products to cart

As a store associate, you can add products to cart and place an order on behalf of the customer.

About this task

You can add products to the cart by any one of the following methods:
  • Check out a product directly by scanning it or entering the product code. By default, the product gets added to the cart as a Carry order if Allow Cash And Carry Lines is selected while creating an order entry type. For more information about order entry types, see Creating an order entry type.

    You can change the delivery method in the View cart page.

    In case of serial-tracked products, you can add multiple units of the product to the cart by scanning a single serial number. check isCashAndCarryAllowed

  • Search for a product and confirm the availability of a product. If the product is available for the delivery method that the customer prefers, you can place an order for the product on behalf of the customer.
To add a product to the cart, use any one of the following procedures:

Procedure

  • By using the Check out portlet:
    From the application menu, select Customer service. In the Check out portlet, scan a product or enter a product code. The product is added to the cart and the View cart window is displayed with the product added as a Carry order.
  • By using the Find products portlet:
    1. From the application menu, select Customer service. In the Find products portlet, search for the product by scanning the product or entering a keyword. For more information, see Finding products.
    2. In the Product details page, check the availability of the product for the specific variant and delivery method that the customer prefers. For more information, see Checking the availability of products.
    3. Select the delivery method based on the preference of the customer.
    4. From the quantity list, select the number of units that the customer wants to order.
    5. Click Add to cart.
      The cart icon is updated to show that the product is added to the cart. You can click the cart icon for a quick view of the products added to cart.
    6. If the customer wants, search for other products and repeat the steps to add it to the cart.
    7. After all the products are added to the cart, click Checkout.
    Note: In case of serial-tracked products, you can add multiple units of the product to the cart by scanning a single serial number. In this case, only one order line in the cart will have serial number information and the remaining units of the product will not have serial number information.

Results

The View cart page opens displaying all the products that are added to the cart along with the delivery method, quantities, item and order totals, and additional details such as the customer details, payment options, gift options, and coupons, if any, to apply.
