Handing over customer pickup orders

You can use Sterling Store Engagement to keep the products ready for a customer to pick up from the store. You can also validate the customer details, mark shortages, if any, and print an acknowledgment for the products that are picked up by the customer.

About this task

Note: The changes on this screen are not saved until you click the Done button. Navigating away from this screen or refreshing the screen results in the loss of any updates done on the screen.

Procedure

To fulfill orders at the store-front, complete the following steps:
  1. Log in to Sterling Store Engagement.
  2. From the application menu, select Order fulfillment.
  3. In the More tasks portlet, click Customer pickup.
  4. Find the order in one of the following ways:
    • Scan or enter the order or shipment number. The Customer pickup page is displayed.
    • Click the Orders count. The Customer pickup orders page is displayed.
    • Click Advanced search and search by using any of the given criteria such as customer name, email ID, or phone number. If a different person is collecting the order on behalf of the customer or a gift recipient is collecting the order, select Include pickup recipients to search by the details of the pickup recipient.

      If the search results in a single order, the Customer pickup page is displayed. If the search results in multiple orders, the Customer pickup order search page is displayed.

    You can view the Shipment summary page by clicking the shipment number link. From the Shipment summary page, you can also click the Order number link to view the Order summary page.
  5. Click Start to hand over the product to the customer or pickup recipient.
    The Customer pickup page opens.
  6. If the customer is the pickup recipient as well, ensure that the customer name is selected. If the order is being picked up by another pickup recipient or gift recipient, select the appropriate name displayed as the recipient.
  7. From the Verification method list, select the ID proof that you are using to verify the customer's identity.
  8. Scan or enter the SKU or serial number of each product in the order and hand it over to the customer.. You can also click Pick up all and hand over all the products in the order in one go.
  9. If for some reason, such as order cancellation or inventory shortage at the time of customer pickup, you cannot complete the pickup, you can mark the reason for this:
    1. Click the order line and click More actions. The More actions window opens, which displays the picked up quantity and remaining quantity.
    2. Select an appropriate reason for not picking up the product.
    3. If you select Cancel as the reason, select an appropriate reason from the cancellation reason list.
  10. Click Done.
    When the customer pickup task is done, inventory is reduced from DEFAULT-LOCATION.
    The Shipment summary page opens.
  11. To print the pickup acknowledgment that lists details such as the picked products, select Print acknowledgment from the Actions menu.
  12. To add additional information, if any, select Notes from the Actions menu.
  13. Click Close.
