Moving inventory on ad hoc basis

You can move products across a store without an existing move request.

Procedure

To move inventory on a need basis, complete the following steps:
  1. Log in to Sterling Store Engagement.
  2. From the application menu, select Inventory management.
  3. In the Move inventory portlet, click Start ad hoc move.
  4. Scan the location from where you are picking the products, followed by the SKU, or serials of the products.
    • If location scan is not mandatory, that is IS_LOC_SCAN_MANDATORY is set to N, you can scan items or serials directly without scanning the locations.
    • For SKU-tracked products, scan one unit, and then manually update the quantity for the remaining units in one of the following ways:
      • Click + or - to adjust the units picked.
      • Enter the total quantity picked, and click check mark icon to confirm.
    • For serial-tracked products, the quantity cannot be manually incremented. Therefore, you must scan all the units as you pick.
  5. If the available inventory is of different statuses, the Select inventory window opens.
    • If location scan is mandatory and if the inventory available in the scanned location is of different statuses, in the Select inventory window, confirm the type of inventory that you want to pick and click Done.
    • If location scan is not mandatory and if the available inventory is of different statuses, confirm the location and the type of inventory and click Done.
  6. Click Pick another inventory to select an inventory status different from what you have selected earlier. For example, if you had selected inventory status as GOOD, clicking Pick another inventory will show inventory statuses other than GOOD, such as DAMAGED.
  7. To reset your earlier inventory status selection, click Reset current inventory selection. The Select inventory window now displays all the available inventory statuses. Select the inventory type that you want to pick and click Done.
  8. The Move inventory screen displays all the items that you have picked.
Note: When you cancel an ad hoc in-progress move request for which the products are picked but not yet deposited, the canceled lines are not displayed in the Move summary screen.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Scan the location where you want to place the picked products, followed by the SKU, or serials of the products.
If you have picked items having different inventory statuses and from different locations, in the Select inventory window, confirm the inventory status and location of the inventory that you want to deposit in the selected location.
To place products of the same SKU in different locations, click Alternate location, scan a location, select a reason, and click Done.
  11. Click Done.
