Inventory updates from Store Inventory Management to Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility

Store Inventory Management and Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility are integrated such that the store inventory adjustments are propagated to Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility.

Propagating store inventory adjustments to Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility

All on-hand inventory adjustments that are made in the Sterling Store Engagement and Store Inventory Management systems are automatically propagated to the Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility system. This ensures that inventory availability and supply levels are up-to-date. There are certain prerequisites and optional additional configuration that is required to manage this integration.

Prerequisites

  • Stores must be configured in the Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility system. You must ensure that all nodes are onboarded to Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility before starting to perform any transactions in Sterling Store Engagement.
  • Stores must be configured such that Store Inventory Management is enabled and the inventory is maintained in the store. For more information about this configuration, see Configuring inventory management capability in stores.

Inventory status - supply type mapping

By default, the inventory status in Store Inventory Management and supply type in Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility are mapped one to one. However, this mapping can be customized according to your business requirements by defining inventory statuses and their corresponding supply types. To define inventory statuses, refer to the IBM Store Inventory Management API documentation.

Any inventory adjustments made in Store Inventory Management are propagated to Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility and a corresponding supply update is made in Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility. To make sure that Store Inventory Management updates the inventory with the correct supply-type in Store Inventory Management, Store Inventory Management makes uses of inventory-status mapping and the default supply-type configured in Store Inventory Management. Store Inventory Management follows the following order to pick the correct supply-type for Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility update:
  • Mapping in inventory-status
  • Default supply-type for store
  • Inventory-status

You must ensure that you configure inventory-status mapping and supply-type for store in Store Inventory Management and have a corresponding supply-type configured in Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility. For more information about these configurations, see Completing common configurations.

If a particular inventory status corresponds to a sellable inventory, the same must be used to create inventory status to supply type mapping. Sellable inventory is mapped to the ONHAND supply type in Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility.

Limitations

  • The inventory information in Store Inventory Management cannot be propagated to Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility. This capability will be available in the future.
  • Currently, only new store inventory updates are propagated to Sterling Intelligent Promising Inventory Visibility. Therefore, it is recommended to use this capability only with new inventory until the full synchronization capability is available.
