Updating an existing developer toolkit environment
You can update your IBM Sterling® Order Management System developer toolkit environment by downloading a new IBM® Sterling™ Order Management System Developer Toolkit and setting up a new environment. As a result, you refresh the IBM provided source files within your developer toolkit environment. You can then import any custom extensions from your previous environment to update your developer toolkit environment without losing the existing customizations and data that you already created.
Before you begin
Note: The file-based developer toolkit is deprecated. You can use the containerized integrated
developer toolkit, which also supports updating versions. However, the new developer toolkit does
not include customer's customizations. For more information, see Containerized developer toolkit.
Before the update, you can download the
latest
IBM Sterling Order Management System Developer Toolkit from Self Service.
You
can install the latest
IBM Sterling Order Management System Developer Toolkit and test your customizations against it. To
know about the Developer Toolkit availability, see the Sterling Order Management System major updates schedule. The latest developer toolkit is provided to set up an environment, where you can try out the features and enhancements until the cloud environment is upgraded to the latest version.
Notes:
- The valid release developer toolkit is made available through Self Service only after the development environment is successfully updated.
- Unless developer toolkit environment is updated to the same base version as the parent cloud environment, customization packages must not be exported from the developer toolkit environment to the cloud environment.
- Customization packages are authored on the developer toolkit environments and exported to cloud environments, starting from lower environments to higher environments, before going live. Unless the customizations go live on one cloud environment, it must not move to the next higher cloud environment.
- You cannot update from a file-based developer toolkit to a containerized developer toolkit and vice versa.
Procedure
To update a containerized developer toolkit environment, see Upgrading an existing containerized developer toolkit environment.
