Delete a search index

You can delete an inactive search index if you no longer have a use for that search index.

About this task

You cannot delete an active search index.

You can delete a search index from the Item Catalog Index List screen.
Note: The application uses a backend process to load the cache for the item catalog search index of maximum 1000 records. If the total count of search indexes is more than 1000 records and the current active index is not part of the 1000 search indexes that are retrieved, the searchCatalogIndex API call might fail because the active search index information is not loaded. So, you must keep the total count of item catalog search indexes less than 1000.

To delete a search index:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Item Catalog Index List screen. To navigate to the Item Catalog Index List screen, perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling™ Business Center as an Item Administrator.
    2. The application home page is displayed. Click the Products tab.
    3. From the Products home page, click Manage Catalog Indexes from the Catalog dashlet.

      The Item Catalog Index screen is displayed.

  2. In the Index List panel, select the check box adjacent the index you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. A message asking you for confirmation is displayed. Click Yes to delete the index.

    The search index is deleted.
