Modifying pipelines

Modify pipelines to update workflow behavior as business requirements change. You can add, remove, or reorder pipeline steps, adjust workflow sequencing, and update pipeline configurations so that documents follow the intended processing path.

About this task

You cannot modify a pipeline while it processes transactions. Review the impact of your changes on related workflows and test updates in a nonproduction environment before you promote them to production. The process types on the General tab do not support pipelines.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Order Hub.
  2. From the side navigation menu, click Configuration > Application platform > Process modeling.
  3. In the process modeling area, click the process type that you want to modify.
The system displays the Pipelines list in the side panel.
  4. Click the name of the pipeline that you want to modify.
  5. Update the pipeline configuration.
    • To update the pipeline description, click the Description field and enter the new description.
    • Drag transactions and conditions onto the canvas and connect the components according to your process requirements.
    • To add or modify swimlanes, click the Settings icon (Settings icon that looks like a cog or gear), update the swimlane settings, and click Save.
    • To enter a comment, click the Comment icon (Comment icon that looks like a bubble with lines), enter the comment, and click the checkmark.
    • To enable auto hint, which helps in the configuration process, set Enable auto hint to On.
  6. Click Save, and then select either Draft or Activate.
Note: You can save a pipeline as a draft or activate it immediately. When you save a pipeline as a draft, it appears as a child item to the original pipeline. You can continue to save changes as a draft pipeline without impacting the active pipeline. When you activate a draft pipeline, it replaces the original pipeline with the updated version.
