Configuring pipeline monitoring rules
Configure pipeline monitoring rules to track order and shipment progress throughout a workflow. Monitoring rules evaluate milestones, dates, statuses, and other lifecycle events and generate monitoring events when specified conditions are met.
About this task
Pipeline monitoring rules help you track workflow progress and identify processing exceptions.
Rules evaluate milestone completion, status duration, date-based thresholds, and other lifecycle
events. When a rule condition is met, the system generates a monitoring event that can be used for
visibility, alerting, or operational tracking.
Note: You can configure a pipeline's monitoring rules
only if your organization owns the pipeline that you are configuring them for.
Configure monitoring rules in the following situations:
- Monitor whether a milestone is reached on time.
- Track how long a document remains in a status.
- Identify delays relative to business dates or milestones.
- Generate events for service-level agreement (SLA) tracking or exception management.
Before you configure monitoring rules, make sure that the required monitoring components, such as milestones, date types, and monitor events, are available for the process type.
Note: The monitoring rules that are available for selection are defined outside Order Hub Application Manager and are provided by the backend system. You can configure and
assign available rules to a pipeline, but you cannot create new monitoring rules from the user
interface.
- Example
- A retailer wants to identify orders that do not reach the released milestone within 24 hours of the requested shipment date. An administrator selects an available monitoring rule that evaluates milestone completion against a shipment date, configures the rule conditions, and assigns the rule to the pipeline. When the condition is met, the system generates a monitoring event for operational review.
