Install the Tivoli® Storage
Manager server on
a production node for PowerHA® to
be able to configure the server for clustering.
Procedure
Complete
the following steps to install the Tivoli Storage
Manager server on
the production node:
- Install Tivoli Storage
Manager. Select
one of the following components:
- The Tivoli Storage
Manager server
- The Tivoli Storage
Manager device driver, if needed
- The Tivoli Storage
Manager license
The executable files are typically installed on the internal disks of the production node, not on
the shared Tivoli Storage
Manager disk space. Tivoli Storage
Manager server executable files are installed in the
/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin directory.
- Configure Tivoli Storage
Manager to use the TCP/IP communication method. For instructions, see the information about configuring a server instance in AIX: Taking the first steps after you install Tivoli Storage
Manager.
- Define a new user ID that owns the Tivoli Storage
Manager server instance
or use an existing user ID that does not already own a Tivoli Storage
Manager instance. While logged in to the instance user ID, complete the following
steps:
- Create an instance directory by using
the mkdir command on a shared file system that
can fail over to the standby system. This
disk must be defined to PowerHA.
- Create the database and log directories
by using the mkdir command on shared file systems
that can fail over to the standby system. These disks must also be
defined to PowerHA to fail
over.
- Complete the configuration by
using the dsmicfgx wizard.
