Running workflows and services through AI agents

You can use any standard MCP client, application, or MCP-enabled IDE to access workflows and flow services in webMethods Hybrid Integration if you supply an appropriate access token with your request. When you run a workflow or a flow service through an MCP client, webMethods Hybrid Integration lists the user that generated the access token as the service executor.

Note: With most MCP clients, you must terminate the existing session and reconnect to see newly exposed workflows and services. Other connection limitations, for example session timeout, might also apply, depending on your MCP client.

Meaningful workflow and service descriptions facilitate tool discovery when users browse for exposed integration assets through MCP-enabled applications. When you update the description of an MCP tool, you must refresh the MCP client connection to see the changes.

Note: The MCP tool description and configuration data for a workflow or flow service does not get exported or imported when you export or import that workflow or service. The same limitation applies to publishing and deploying workflows and flow services that are exposed as MCP tools.
