Event specification
You can manage an event specification in the right pane of the Specifications tab in the CICS® event binding editor, by selecting the required event specification in the left pane.
General
You can specify general information for the event specification, consisting of a name and a description.
Emitted Business Information
You can add and remove event information that you want to capture for this event specification, and you can order the items of event information.
When a format length is specified as Automatic in the Emitted Business Information table in the CICS event binding editor, this indicates that the length of the emitted business information item is derived from the length and type of the captured field. (When there is more than one capture specification, the first one is used.) This is useful for avoiding the situation where the specified length is too small, which results in the data being truncated or emitted as asterisks.
Capture Specifications
You can add capture specifications to the event specification. A capture specification defines the EXEC CICS command, filtering, and data values for the event. You can create more than one capture specification for an event specification. For each capture specification, the editor opens a notebook with the following tabs:
