IBM Maximo Spatial Asset Management, Version 7.6

Automatic location of map features

Multiple fields in records that are not linked with map features can be used as an additional method for finding a map position for these records. The Auto-Locate function uses this additional information to position these records on the map.

If an asset, location, work order, service request, or service address is not linked with a map feature, it cannot be viewed on the map. The Auto-Locate function uses information about records that are not linked with a map feature to determine a position on the map. If an associated record is linked with a map feature, a position can be determined. For example, you can locate an asset based on the X and Y values that are specified in the service address of an asset. When a record is found by the Auto-Locate function, a yellow star identifies the position of the record on the map.

When a user clicks Update GIS List on the map toolbar, the Auto-Locate function adds results to the Results window based on the source of positioning information that is used for the record. For example, the Auto-Locate function uses information in the Asset field to position a work order. In the Results window, an asset node is created in the tree structure that lists the asset that is referenced by the work order. Next to the asset, the referenced work order is listed.
