Tracking performance measurements in dashboards
A dashboard is a business monitoring tool that visually displays and tracks the performance measurements that you use to assess the health of your business.
Typically, you create a dashboard to answer complex business questions about an activity or process. Dashboards distill complex information into easily understandable visualizations so that you can monitor your business in near real-time. These visualizations are called charts.
A chart displays a measurement by taking business data and generating a bar chart, donut chart, gauge, and more. The value of the measurement can be a plain number or an aggregation, which is a value that results from a mathematical operation.
Monitoring sources
A monitoring source is data that a team can view and interact with in charts.
When you create a chart, you select a kind of monitoring source from the list, classified according to capability, to display content. You can also create custom monitoring sources in a dashboard to quickly select the data that you want to use in multiple charts.
Collaborating with colleagues
A dashboard can encourage collaboration by helping you easily share the status of business activities and goals with your colleagues. As the owner of all dashboards you create, you have exclusive permission to edit and organize your dashboards. Similarly, you cannot edit nor reorganize the content of a dashboard that does not belong to you.
