Closing a meter

When a meter is no longer active or you do not expect to receive any data for the meter in the future, you can close the meter.

About this task

You can close a single meter, or you can close multiple meters in bulk. Closing a meter sets the Replaced On date for the meter.

Procedure

  1. In the Meters grid, select the meters that you want to close, and then click Actions > Close Meter(s).
  2. In the Close Meter(s) window, choose one of the following options:
    • Set a specific meter closed date and click Save.
    • Click Set Close Date as Last Date of Data. This option can be useful if you are closing multiple meters with different dates.

What to do next

To stop data loads for closed meters, IBM® ESG Suite provides a system configuration that controls how long meter data continues to be processed after a meter is closed. From the navigation menu, click Admin > Interval Meter Settings > Closed meter data loading.

After a meter has a Replaced Date that indicates that the meter is closed, meter data loading automatically stops after a configurable number of days. The default value is 180 days if the field is empty. This configuration ensures that closed meters follow the same data loading rules as closed accounts and prevents ingestion of obsolete meter data.
