Configuring the factor set hierarchy

You can configure the detailed factor set hierarchy to control the order in which the system checks factor sets when compiling monthly data in accounts and meters.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have system administrator access to the data configuration area. Enable detailed factor set configuration:
  1. Click Admin > Organization Preferences.
  2. In the Detailed Factor Set Hierarchy section, enable the Detailed factor set configuration in data configuration area setting.
  3. After you enable the setting, you also have the option to configure a factor set algorithm (FSA) transition date as the point from which the system starts applying the new FSA method. Leave the date blank if you also want the detailed method applied to all historical data.

About this task

Use the following procedure to add entries to the factor set hierarchy. You can configure factor sets at different levels, including starting global hierarchy, country default hierarchy, continent default hierarchy, and global default hierarchy.

Procedure

  1. From the IBM® Envizi ESG Suite interface, click Admin > Data Configuration.
  2. Click Factor Set Hierarchy.
  3. Open a factor set hierarchy section by clicking on the relevant row.
    The available sections are:
    • Starting Global Hierarchy
    • Country Default Hierarchy
    • Continent Default Hierarchy
    • Global Default Hierarchy
  4. Select a region.
Note: Global sections allow you to select only Earth.
  5. Select a factor set to apply.
  6. Click Add.
The system adds the factor set to the selected region within the hierarchy section.
  7. Use the up and down arrows to reorder factor sets within a region within a section.

The order determines the priority in which the system checks factor sets for relevant factors.

  8. Repeat the previous steps until you configure all factor sets for the desired levels and regions.

Results

You have now configured the factor set hierarchy. When the system compiles monthly data, it checks factor sets in the order you specified.

Note: To apply your factor set changes immediately to your previously loaded data, request a factor refresh from IBM Support.
