Creating a business‑as‑usual forecast
Generate a Business‑As‑Usual (BAU) emissions trajectory by combining locked actuals with modeled forecasts, forming the baseline against which all targets and programs are assessed.
About this task
- Univariate forecast
- A univariate forecast predicts the future values of a single variable based on historical data, using the Holt-Winters model.
- Multivariate forecast
- A multivariate forecast takes into consideration multiple external, time-dependent variables to improve prediction accuracy. It uses one of two models, vector auto-regressive (VAR) and auto-regressive integrated moving average (ARIMAX). Note that neither multivariate models are seasonal. The univariate forecasting method suits highly seasonal data better.
