Review the procedure for closing a location so that the close date cascades down to all
accounts and meters in the location.
About this task
System administrators can use the Close Location option that is documented
in the following procedure to close a location and cascade the updates down to accounts and meters
at the location. Do not update the Closed On location attribute directly in the
Edit Location Setting form because the updates do not cascade down to any
accounts or meters.
Procedure
- Close a location:
- Open the Locations grid at either the organization or group
level.
- Right-click the location that you want to close, and click Close
Location.
- In the Close Location dialog, set a close date for the location
and save.
The close date cascades down to the following items:
- All active accounts and meters in the location that do not have a
Replaced On
date, or that have a Replaced On date that is later than the current date. Accounts
and meters that were closed previously are not affected.
- The
Closed On location attribute.
If accounts have accruals, the stats are refreshed based on the new
Replaced
On date. The refresh process is run as a back-end job and might take up to one hour to
complete for all affected accounts.
- To change a location close date, open the Close Location dialog,
choose a different close date, and save.
The system updates accounts and meters that had
the same Replaced On date as the Closed On location attribute.
Therefore, the system does not touch any historical accounts or meters that have already been closed
previously.
For example, a location was previously closed on 31 July 2018 and a user
changes the close date to 31 August 2018. Only accounts or meters that have Replaced
On set to 31 July 2018 are changed to 31 August 2018. Any account or meter that was closed
before 31 July 2018 remains intact.
- To re-open a location, open the Close Location dialog, leave the
close date value blank, and save.
The system clears the Replaced
On value of all accounts and meters in the location, and also clears the Closed
On location attribute.
