Installing WebSphere Application Server

The IBM® WebSphere® Application Server installation consists of two parts: IBM Installation Manager and the WebSphere Application Server itself.

IBM Installation Manager

The IBM Installation Manager is used to assist in the installation of WebSphere Application Server and the corresponding fixpacks.

IBM WebSphere Application Server

Since the Connections Docs components are WebSphere-based applications, you must install a WebSphere Application Server profile for each of these servers: the Connections Docs application server, the Connections Docs proxy, the Conversion server, and the File Viewer server.

Details for installing IBM Installation Manager and WebSphere Application Server, as well as subsequent actions you must do on each WebSphere server, are included in the section of this guide that follows.
