Updating the IBM FileNet P8 client connector files (FileNet P8 )

If you plan to use the IBM Content Navigator web client to access IBM FileNet P8 repositories, you must configure the web application to use the version of the client connector files that match the version of Content Engine or Content Platform Engine that you are running.

Before you begin

Make sure that you are running a supported version of Content Engine or Content Platform Engine before you run this task.

This task assumes that you have a configuration profile open in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.

About this task

This task applies to FileNet P8 users only.

When you install IBM Content Navigator, a version of the Content Engine client connector files is installed on the IBM Content Navigator server. The version of the files on the IBM Content Navigator server must match the version of Content Engine or Content Platform Engine that you are running.

The IBM Content Navigator installation program includes information about the version of the Content Engine client connector files that are installed with IBM Content Navigator. If the version of the files that are installed with IBM Content Navigator do not match the version of the files on your Content Engine or Content Platform Engine server, you can use the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool to connect to the server to download and install the correct version of the files.

Tip: If you are using the wizard to configure the web application and you want to skip this task, click Advanced.

Procedure

To update the client connector files:

  1. Open the following task in your configuration profile: Update the IBM FileNet P8 Client Connector Files.
  2. Complete the task by using the values that you entered in the Worksheet for updating the FileNet P8 client connector files.
    Tip: You can use the Test Content Engine Connection button to make sure that you entered the information about your Content Engine deployment correctly.
  3. Click Next to run the task.
  4. Restart the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool before you complete any other tasks.
    When you restart the Configuration and Deployment Tool, it updates the other tasks for your IBM FileNet P8 environment.
  5. Complete your remaining tasks.

    If you are manually running the tasks in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool, you can take one of the following actions:

    1. Click Run Task for each task. This option is recommended to simplify troubleshooting and resolving problems if they occur.
    2. When all your tasks are completed, click Run All Tasks to run all the tasks that are required to configure and deploy the web application.

What to do next

Important: If you upgrade the version of the Content Engine server that you are running, you must rerun this task in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool. After you rerun this task, you must rebuild and redeploy the web application EAR file.
