Database accounts

To enable IBM® Content Navigator to connect to the database where you plan to store the IBM Content Navigator configuration data, you must have the credentials for a general database user and a database administrator.

When you run the Update the Database Script for Your Environment task, the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool updates a script that you can run on the database instance where you want to store the IBM Content Navigator configuration data. You have two options for using this script:

You can run the script from the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool. If you chose this option, you must specify a user with sufficient privileges to run the script on the database.
On DB2® and DB2 for z/OS® databases, you must specify a user with SYSADM authority.
You can run the script manually on the database. If you chose this option, you must run the script on the database as the database user that you specified when you ran the task in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.

The database user and database administrator accounts should be created by using your database tools. The database user account must meet the following criteria:

On DB2, DB2 for z/OS, and DB2 pureScale® the user must have INSERT, DELETE, SELECT, and UPDATE authority.
Remember: If you want to run the script from the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool, the user must have SYSADM authority.
On Microsoft SQL Server server, the user must be an SQL server user with rights to the database.
On Oracle and Oracle RAC, the user must be a table space owner.
