There are some things that you must plan for in order to use IBM® Content Manager OnDemand as one of your IBM Content Navigator repositories.
IBM Content Navigator uses the Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK) to connect to your IBM Content Manager OnDemand repositories.
All of the IBM Content Manager OnDemand repositories that are configured for a single instance of IBM Content Navigator share the same instance of the Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK).
Common ODWEK error messages are translated into multiple languages and are displayed based on the locale that is set in user's web browsers. However, if an uncommon or unexpected error message occurs, the error message is returned in the language that is specified as the application-level ODWEK language.
Set the ODWEK language to the language in which you want uncommon or unexpected error messages to be displayed.
ODWEK uses a temporary directory to process files that are created during normal operation. It is recommended that you specify a directory on a fast and secure file system with read and write permission to the system account that is running on the IBM Content Navigator application server.
You can configure how much information is written to the arswww.trace file to help resolve any problems that occur when ODWEK is running.
If you have any AFP documents on your IBM Content Manager OnDemand repositories, and you want to use the AFP2PDF Transform utility to convert AFP documents to PDF documents for viewing and printing, you must install and configure the AFP2PDF Transform utility on the IBM Content Navigator server.
When you configure the application-level settings for IBM Content Manager OnDemand, you can specify the installed location of the AFP2PDF Transform utility.
When you configure a repository that has AFP documents, you must specify the fully qualified path of the AFP2PDF configuration file that you want to use for the repository on the Configuration Parameters page. You can create a single AFP2PDF configuration file for all of the repositories or use different configuration files for each repository, if appropriate.
If you have defined custom properties, you can set them at the application level if they apply to all of the repositories in your environment. If the custom properties are not shared by all of the repositories, you can specify the custom properties that apply to specific repositories when you configure those repositories.
In addition, on the IBM Content Manager OnDemand server, you must configure the Inactivity Time Out property to ensure that users are prompted to log in when their user session expires. Set the property to a value that is equal to or greater than the session timeout value on the web application server. If you do not configure this setting, IBM Content Navigator users receive an inactivity error when their user session expires.
