Organizing touchpoints on your storyboard

As you develop your customer journey, you storyboard will get more complex. You can organize your storyboard by grouping the touchpoints. You can also use groups to create stages in the customer journey.

About this task

Grouping touchpoints has the following limitations:

  • There is no limit to the number of touchpoints that can be added to a group.
  • You can't add a group or a connector to a group.
  • Deleting a group deletes all of the touchpoints contained in the group.

In the standard version of Journey Designer, you can link a group to a campaign or a program. The Group connector icon then changes to either a Campaign or Programs connector icon. In the free trial version, you can't link to programs and campaigns.

To group touchpoints, complete the following steps.

Procedure

  1. Drag a Group tool from the palette to the canvas.
  2. Drag touchpoints from the palette or canvas to the Group icon.

The counter on the icon increases each time an touchpoint is added.

  3. You can provide a name for the group at any time by clicking on the group and replacing the default name New group.
  4. Organize and define the touchpoints in the group by clicking the group and selecting Open connector canvas.

A new canvas displays the grouped touchpoints. You can work with the touchpoints on this storyboard as you normally would. The breadcrumbs at the top of the screen indicate where you are.

The in-market date that displays on the Group icon is the first in-market date of the touchpoints in the group.

  5. You can further define the group by clicking the group and selecting Details. You can perform the following actions on the group:
    1. Add attachments.
    2. Provide a description.
  6. You can ungroup the touchpoints at any time by clicking the group and selecting Ungroup.

The ungrouped touchpoints are displayed on the storyboard below the group icon.

  7. You can copy the group and all of its touchpoints. However, any links to campaigns and programs are not copied.
  8. To return to the storyboard canvas, click the left arrow next to the group name.
