InfoSphere™ Warehouse provides
two installation wizards, one for the data server and application
server components, and one for the client components. You need
to run both wizards to install the full product.
About this task
When
you install the warehouse server components of InfoSphere Warehouse,
you are prompted to enter the connection information for metadata
database that you created. The installation program uses this information
to test the connection to the metadata database. You can proceed with
the installation only after the connection is verified. The installation
program stores the connection information in a properties file, which
is used later by the product to connect to the metadata database.
Procedure
To
install InfoSphere Warehouse by
using the installation wizards:
- To install the data server
components or the application server components, from the directory
of the warehouse server image, run the installation wizard. For example, you can run the following command:

On Linux and UNIX: image_path/server/isw/install.bin
-Dprofile='profile_path'
On Windows: image_path\server\isw\install.exe
-Dprofile="profile_path"
where image_path is the path to the installation
image and profile_path is the location of the
directory where you copied the profile license files from the Activation
CD.Note: If you attempt to install the product without a license file,
you will install an evaluation copy that will eventually expire.
Tip: If you copied the profile directory
to the same level as the installation program in the server directory,
you do not need to include the profile argument in the command.
The installation wizard opens.
- To install the warehouse client components, from the directory
of the warehouse client image, run the installation wizard. For example, you can run the following command:
On Linux: image_path/client/isw/install.bin
-Dprofile='profile_path'
On Windows: image_path\client\isw\install.exe
-Dprofile="profile_path"
where image_path is the path to the installation
image and profile_path is the path to the profile
directory. Tip: If you copied the profile directory
to the same level as the installation program in the client directory,
you do not need to include the profile argument in the command.
The installation wizard opens.
- During installation, a database for storing metadata about
your warehousing applications was created, if it did not exist already.
After the installation wizard completes, if you created this database
for the first time and if you intend to use Cubing Service, you must
disconnect from the metadata database before starting the Administration
Console. This step ensures that the database is configured correctly.
What to do next
After
you finish the installation, you can verify that it was successful
by checking the installation log files. If you are satisfied that
the installation was successful, you can begin configuring the product.
