Reference information for working with accelerators

Db2 provides tables, commands, special registers, and SQL statements that support the interactions between Db2 and accelerator servers.

Tables that support query acceleration
To interact with accelerator servers, Db2 requires several tables that record characteristics of accelerated servers and tables.
-START ACCEL (Db2)
The Db2 command START ACCEL notifies the Db2 subsystem that it should use the specified accelerator servers.
-DISPLAY ACCEL (Db2)
The DISPLAY ACCEL command displays information about accelerator servers.
-STOP ACCEL (Db2)
The Db2 command STOP ACCEL causes the Db2 subsystem to stop using the specified accelerator servers.
ACCELERATION STARTUP field (ACCEL subsystem parameter)
Specifies whether accelerator servers can be used with a Db2 subsystem, and how the accelerator servers are to be enabled and started. An accelerator server cannot be started unless it is enabled.
ACCELERATION OPTIONS field (QUERY_ACCEL_OPTIONS subsystem parameter)
The QUERY_ACCEL_OPTIONS subsystem parameter controls whether certain types of queries are allowed to execute on an accelerator server.
CURRENT QUERY ACCEL field (QUERY_ACCELERATION subsystem parameter)
The QUERY_ACCELERATION subsystem parameter determines the default value that is to be used for the CURRENT QUERY ACCELERATION special register.
QUERYACCELERATION bind option
The QUERYACCELERATION bind option specifies whether a static SQL query is bound for acceleration, and if so, with what behavior. If the bind option is specified, it also provides the initial value for the CURRENT QUERY ACCELERATION special register that is used for dynamic queries, if a SET statement has not been issued for the special register.
CURRENT QUERY ACCELERATION special register
The CURRENT QUERY ACCELERATION special register specifies a value that identifies when Db2 sends dynamic SQL queries to an accelerator server and what Db2 does if the accelerator server fails. The special register does not apply to static SQL queries.
SET CURRENT QUERY ACCELERATION
The SET CURRENT QUERY ACCELERATION statement changes the value of the CURRENT QUERY ACCELERATION special register.
GET ACCEL ARCHIVE field (GET_ACCEL_ARCHIVE subsystem parameter)
The GET_ACCEL_ARCHIVE subsystem parameter determines the default value that is to be used for the CURRENT GET_ACCEL_ARCHIVE special register.
GETACCELARCHIVE bind option
The GETACCELARCHIVE bind option specifies whether a static SQL query that is bound for acceleration retrieves archived data on the accelerator, instead of active data. If the bind option is specified, it also provides the initial value for the CURRENT GET_ACCEL_ARCHIVE special register that is used for dynamic queries, if a SET statement has not been issued for the special register.
CURRENT GET_ACCEL_ARCHIVE special register
The CURRENT GET_ACCEL_ARCHIVE special register specifies whether a dynamic SQL query that references a table that is archived on an accelerator server uses the archived data. The special register does not apply to static SQL queries.

The SET CURRENT GET_ACCEL_ARCHIVE statement changes the value of the CURRENT GET_ACCEL_ARCHIVE special register.
