Installing and configuring host agents

You can install and configure the Instana host agent.

To install and set up the Instana host agent, complete the following steps:

  1. Review the prerequisites, select the required host agent, and install the agent. For more information, see Installing host agents.

  2. Configure the host agent. For more information, see Configuring host agents.

  3. Manage the host agent. For more information, see Managing host agents.

  4. Set up a mirror of the Instana agent repository for the dynamic host agents to use, instead of using the Instana agent repository. For more information, see Dynamic agent Maven repositories.

  5. Review the security considerations for the Instana agent, which has deep access into the observed system where it is installed. For more information, see Host agent security considerations.

  6. Review the different versions of the Instana agent that appear in the Instana UI and in the IBM Documentation. For more information, see Versioning of host agents.
