Instana monitors the VMware vSphere environments by using the Instana vSphere sensor. The sensor provides insights into the health and performance of applications and services that use vSphere environment.

This release provides the following enhancements:
- Added a new
usedPercentagemetric to enable event generation. - Updated the hostname to include the datacenter name for improved visibility.
Release 1.0.31
vSphere sensor 1.0.31 is released on 30 March 2026.
Fixes
This release resolves an issue that caused inefficient monitoring and potential data loss in large-scale vSphere data centers due to the excessive number of virtual machines (VMs) being monitored. To address this issue, Instana now supports filtering to monitor only specific hosts and VMs.
