Accessing the user interface

You can access Instana from the user interface.

Use the most recent versions of the following web browsers to access the Instana UI.

Logging in

To log in to Instana, complete the following steps:

  1. Enter the Instana URL in a supported browser. The Instana login page opens.
  2. Complete one of the following steps:
    • Log in with the email address that is registered with Instana:
      1. In the Email field, enter the email address.
      2. Enter the password.
    • Log in with Google Single Sign-On (SSO):
      1. Click Log in with Google.
      2. Select the Google account that is enabled for SSO.

To log out of Instana, click Profile menu > Log out.

Inviting users by sharing Instana URLs

You can share URLs from Instana and invite users to access Instana. Instana can shorten the URL to make it easy to share. When a recipient opens the shared link, the Instana page opens with the same time range, even if the recipient is in a different time zone.

You can send the URL by email, or copy it from the Page link field and share it by any other way.

To share an Instana URL by email, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Share in the Instana UI. The Share pageName dialog opens.
  2. In the Email address field, enter an email address. To add multiple email addresses, click Add user.
  3. Optional: In the Email message field, enter a message to include in the email.
  4. Click Send.

The email is sent with the subject fullName wants to share a page in Instana.

  • If the email address is associated with an Instana user, that user can log in and view the page.
  • If the email address is not associated with an Instana user, the recipient must sign up for Instana before they access the URL.
