Data presentation and analysis
The two major functions of IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision are performance monitoring and analysis, and tracking trends in workload and response time.
Performance monitoring and analysis
Tracking trends
The IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision trending function is used based on the assumption that IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision is run daily. These daily runs help ensure that the historical trend information can be loaded and maintained daily.
- Create a project on the Welcome screen. This activates trending automatically.
- Go to . You can change the number of days to be
kept per data level using Retention Settings.
IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision automatically deletes data that is past the defined window.
- Define Shifts in the Reduce command file. Note:
You can add, modify, or delete a Shift definition; however you must maintain reporting consistency. IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision uses the shift definitions as they exist at database load time and does not make retro-active changes.
When you begin building trending databases, you can include the Shift definitions in the daily IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision cycle.
You can collect the data for historic trend analysis by calculating minimum, average, or maximum values per shift, per day. These daily roll-ups are called Yearly. They allow you to keep years of data available for historic trend analysis. The data is maintained as a sliding window.
