Getting Started with IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter
The IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter is deployed with the main IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter product on your organization server.
You can use IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter to view reports on already loaded data by using a web browser. Creating and maintaining (like loading data) of projects is still done by using the main IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS product. The IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter accesses one of these projects and displays the data in the web browser.
The IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter uses Internet Information Services (IIS) 8 as the web server. You must have IIS 8 or higher installed on the system running the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS installer, otherwise the option to deploy IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter is not provided by the installer.
Also install the ASP.NET windows features on the system. Complete the following steps:
- Go to the Server Manager.
- Click Add Roles and Features, in the Server Manager dashboard.
- Click Next, in the Add Roles and Features wizard.
- Select Role-based or feature-based installation, in the Installation Type page and click Next.
- In the Server Selection page, choose the server running IIS and click Next.
- In the Server Roles page, expand .
- Enable ASP.NET. Higher versions are better. Click Next.
- In the Features page, click Next.
- In the Confirmation page, click Install.
- The IIS Web Sockets Windows feature should be enabled on the machine running IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter. During deployment the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter installer enables this feature if you are running on a Windows Server.
Step 1: Custom setup
In the first panel, the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS installer displays after the Welcome panel gives you the option to deploy the Web Reporter. If you want to deploy the Web Reporter, click the red cross and select Will be installed on local hard drive and click Next.
Step 2: Location
In the next page, you can choose where to deploy the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS main product. You can change this location as wanted or accept the default location. UNC path is supported for the main IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS product.
Step 3: Create new website
Unlike the main IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS product, UNC paths are not supported for the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter files. Once you are satisfied with the name and location of the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter, click Next. After validating the values you have entered, the installer will display the next panel.
Step 4: Configure website ports
In the Configure Website Ports page, you can specify at which HTTP(S) port IIS runs the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter. Select and specify either an HTTP or an HTTPS port or both.
Because the HTTPS protocol requires a certificate for an HTTPS port, the installer offers four options to accomplish this:
- Manual
- After the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter is deployed, you can manually bind
a certificate to the HTTPS port by using the IIS Manager. Note: The IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter is not reachable via the HTTPS protocol until the certificate is setup.
- Auto
- Create and use a self-signed certificate during deployment. Do not use this option if the
Web Reporter is exposed outside of your own intranet. Note: Any modern web browser mistrusts self-signed certificates, so you get security warnings when accessing the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter with the HTTPS protocol.
If you select this option, you must also specify the domain part of the URL of the Web Reporter. By default this is the hostname of the web server. However, a typical URL used will not be the web server hostname but a logical name that is set in DNS. To make the certificate work, you must specify the logical name of the web server as configured on the DNS.
- Existing
- Use an existing certificate. Enter the Certificate Hash (obtained from the Server Certificates in the IIS Manager) of the certificate that IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS should use. The IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS installer validates that the certificate exists.
Step 5: IIS user account
In the IIS User Account panel, you can specify the OS user account that IIS uses to run the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter. For security reasons, it is not recommended to use the Default Account option.
Step 6: Project location
In the last panel, you can choose where to store the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS projects. You can change this location as desired or accept the default location. The path entered here must be available to both the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS main product and the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter.
After all the required information has been entered, the actual deployment of the Web Reporter commences. The deployment takes a few minutes. Once the deployment is completed you can access the IBM Z IntelliMagic Vision Web Reporter, unless on the Configure Website Ports panel you selected Manual.
